🎉 And then there were two...

And then there were two...

Ali and Cooper came into our lives only a few short weeks after that devastating day. Ali was originally planned as a surprise as my partner knew Porsche was getting ready to cross the Rainbow Bridge and I was going to be devastated in ways no one could fully imagine. August 4th, 2018, under the impression of going for a drive we pulled up to a house somewhere in the suburbs. I found this odd as he had mentioned he wanted me to meet someone. We walked up to the door and knocked. I lovely lady came to answer the door and welcomed us in with arms wide open. Unsure of what was happening I started to make myself aware of my surroundings. One large, fluffy orange cat laid on the floor, a sleek grey one on the balcony outside and this tiny little beige fluff ball just across the room from me. I  began to question what was going on. Seconds later, out of the back of the couch popped his itty bitty black kitten! The words, “Meet your new kitten”, came pouring out of my partners mouth.

I was in shock! I didn't think, waking up that morning, that only hours later I would be holding my new companion.  She was only 6 weeks old and could easily curl up in the palm of my hand.  She was so timid and stuck close to her brother, the fluffy beige kitten I first laid my eyes on.  I sat on the floor in awe of what was happening. Two little kittens playful ran around me, chasing paper balls and one another.  My heart still in pieces from my loss of Porsche, but a calm accepting feeling soon started to wash over me.

I sat on the floor of the house for almost two hours, talking to the owners of our new kitten's mom; learning about the impressive journey they had taken to get to where they are now.  The longer I sat there the more and more I started to fall in love...not with just the tiny black one but with her brother as well.  Should we get both?  Would it really be fair to separate them?  Can we really take care of two kittens?  The questions started to swirl around in our heads like crazy.  Finally, we said our "see you laters" to our kitten and headed home.  The entire way questioning if we should get both!

I couldn't get that beige fluff out of my head the entire car ride home! After some extreme research, an extensive pro/con list and some number crunching...we said YES!  We would bring them both home!  After seeing them together we knew there was no way we could break them up.  They were bonded.  I always wanted to get Porsche a friend but she was a lone wolf of a cat.  These two would have the chance to grow up side by side, sleep together, play with one another - cause trouble as a duo!

The weeks following were filled with more research, but this time about what food to feed them, the best cat tree, training techniques and so much more!  August 19th, finally came, and we headed out to pick up the two newest additions to our family!  Please welcome, Ali (our little black beauty) and her brother Cooper (the not so tiny beige fluff)!

The following instalments of this blog are going to be their story of living the kitten life, from their perspective.  Life isn't always easy for a kitten, but they sure know how to make it interesting!
